Adolphus George Butler 1868 - 1936

Active in Southampton late 1890s - 1935
Butler was born Adolphus George Le Boutillier in Jersey, 1868. His father was ships carpenter may have been at sea when the 1871 census was recorded, as he was not with the family at the time. In 1881 his mother was recorded as a widow and had changed her surname (and that of her son) to Butler. However his father suddenly re-appeared in the 1891 census record, living with his family in Stanford Street, Southampton. Adolphus was married with a young son, and was listed as a labourer in the ship yard.  
By 1901 Butler lived in Brintons Road, St Marys, with his wife and 2 children. His occupation was listed as photographer. The 1907 directory listed Butler, A.G, Photographer, at 25 Northam Road.

Butler was listed as a photographer at 25 Northam Road until 1935, when his occupation had changed to Gramophone Dealer. Butler died in Southampton in 1936.
