The only census record found for George Edmonds is 1861, when he lived and worked at 5 Above Bar. He gave his date and place of birth as America, in 1824, and his wife 'Juliand' was born in Dorking in 1826. Also living at 5 Above Bar were Juliand's sister Mary Ann (an Artificial Florist), and Henry Hayward (gardener and grocer) and his family. (In 1853 5 Above Bar was the premises of Philip Brannon, Southampton Artist.)
Advertisements for George Edmonds appeared in the directories for 1863 and 1864, but by 1865 5 Above Bar was the studio of Brown and Wheeler. (see entry for Brown and Wheeler). No trace of George Edmonds has been found before 1861 or after the 1864 directory listing.
