William Freeman was a photographer in the Southampton area for a brief time in the 1870s. Originally from Ipswich, in 1861 he was married and living with his wife in Portsea and working as a stationer. The 1871 census recorded Freeman as a house decorator and photographer with a young apprentice, at Bloomsfield Terrace, South Stoneham.
Freeman's first wife died in the mid 1870s and he remarried. In 1891 he worked as a house decorator in Littlehampton, Sussex.
